Just got back from our trip to Krakow. We stayed in the Da Vinci Apartment. Great location - two blocks from the main square. Helpful staff - especially Peter at the desk. You could ask him anything and if he didn't know, he would find out. The apartment was spacious. It also had a small washing machine. Truly though, it's all about the location!!!!! Wish we were still there. I would rent the apartment again if I was to go back to Krakow. Although the apartment didn't have internet access, you can get it at the Globtroter which is a few blocks away.
This is part 1 of the Marstin Tallant's review:
GLOBTROTER Pension, Krakow Singing the praises of the Globtroter Pension in Krakow. We (2 couples) spent 4 nights in Krakow (July 2010) at this pension. Our rooms were on the second floor with a common balcony overlooking a lovely green garden and very near (out the front door) a small city square in close proximity to all of the old city and the main square. The pension was extremely safe, quiet and walking at reasonable hours posed no problems (none were expected). The highly competent, fluent in English, staff readily arranged a day trip to Auschwitz and later an evening concert of Klezmer music in nearby Kasmirez.
This is the part 2 of the Marstin Tallant's review: They recommended excellent restaurants (Chimera/dinner being one and the Metropolitan/breakfast -lavish and very inexpensive) that were not expensive and yet served excellent food and possessed equally superb staff. The rooms were clean, well-kept and supplied with necessities to make our stay extremely pleasant. This is not an expensive hotel and one should not expect the amenities of a Hilton; we came to see Krakow not "little America". We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it for a close in view of a wonderful city accompanied by a very competent and friendly staff. Very sincerely, Marstin Tallant
We stayed at the Globtroter for 3 nights, room was lovely, spacious and clean. Staff surpassed themselves in helping with enquiries and always on hand with maps and information. We loved Krakow it is the most beautiful city.. up there with all the greats! We would deffinatly return to Globtroter on our return.
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
wir empfanden unseren Aufenthalt in Ihrem Hotel sehr angenehm. Die Zimmer
waren geräumig und sauber. Auch das Personal war sehr freundlich und
aufmerksam.

Just got back from the Globtrotter. We had a fantastic weekend.Lovely location, really close to the main square and all the hustle and bustle. Good restaurants and bars and very reasonable prices. The staff were wonderfully helpful and friendly. The rooms were Clean, neat and inexpensive. The beds were really comfortable and the room dark and quiet. The bathroom although somewhat dated was very clean and the shower had plenty of hot water. Very charming. Would definatey recommend and will certainly be returning.
This is a great little place to stay and so full of character! The staff are really friendly and helpful. Really quiet and peaceful. If you are after a party hostel this probably isn't the right place to go but if you are after a quiet, friendly place with great location, this is perfect. Great place, I would recommend to anyone and everyone!
Free Wifi Internet was available in my room, but the signal was weak with frequent disconnections. Perhaps this was due to my location or maybe I was just on the limit of the range of the Wifi modem. There is a computer with a wired Internet connection but I must admit I didn't use this...maybe the wired setup performs better.
I got a great discount when I booked the room because I was staying for 10 days so it's worth asking about this... you could get a nice surprise.
In summary, I'd say this is a great place to stay. It's only a few minutes from the Main Square and restaurants, cafes, bars and shops are nearby and the staff are great!
I arrived a few hours before the check-in time, but since my room was ready I could go straight in.
The room I got was spotless and the coffee- and tea-making facilities was very welcome, particularly after a long journey.
The unlimited supply of ice in the fridge-freezer for really cooool drinks is a good idea...my stay coincided with temperatures in the high thirties so I used this a lot.
Eating out isn't a problem. There is a restaraunt open from 9am next door to Globtroter with reasonably-priced food and for breakfast I went to Cafe Szara, open from 8am, at Rynek Glowny 6 will give you a cooked breakfast for 18zl (between 3 and four pounds).
The place was really quiet.... The only time I heard anything was when football fans at the other side of the square groaned and cheered while watching the final of the World Cup!
